UTASTA Fall Workshop
“Explore, Expand, Elevate, Excel”
October 26, 2024 at University of Utah School of Music (due August 1, 2024)
Seeking your expertise and ideas to help us provide an array of interesting topics for professional development of Utah string teachers and educators. As a presenter, you can play a valuable role in advancing string education in our state.
We are interested in presentations that will:
- Stimulate and provoke discussion, audience engagement, and outcome-focused design
- Facilitate knowledge transfer and development of new competencies
- Use methods that draw out relevant past knowledge and experiences.
Target audiences:
- Private Studio – Pedagogy, instructional methods, and administrative tasks relevant to private studio practice.
- School Orchestra – Pedagogy, instructional methods, classroom management, repertoire, technology, and other topics designed to aid school orchestra teachers in their effectiveness.
- Collegiate/University – Pedagogy, instructional topics, teacher preparation, and research.
- Student – Topics relevant to students working toward careers in music education, such as completing music degrees or working toward graduate school.
- Other – Topics related to playing or teaching string instruments in eclectic styles, wellness, theory, business practices, etc.
Special Notes:
The board cannot accept proposals that promote individual commercial products. Commercial materials may be used in a session for educational objectives, but they cannot be used for promotional purposes. Taking orders or selling products during the session is prohibited.
Deadline:
The deadline for applications is August 1st. Applicants will be notified if their presentation is accepted by August 17th. Presenters are also able to attend the workshop for free.
